FAQ’s

We are all unique and so are our experiences and so we don’t limit sessions, however we will review them regularly to see how you feel our sessions and our work together is going and if we are working towards your desired outcomes.

After our first contact by phone or e-mail, we will arrange for a one-hour assessment, which will enable us to discuss what has prompted you to seek counselling, a little of your life story, your past and current relationships, and your expectations of therapy. It also gives you the opportunity to ask any further questions you may have from our initial contact.

Thereafter, subsequent sessions will be fifty minutes long and once weekly, unless otherwise agreed. It is important for effective therapy that we try to maintain a regular and continuous commitment.

I will treat the content of our sessions in the strictest confidence. However, there are certain situations where I have an ethical and legal obligation to break confidentiality should I be concerned that you may be of serious harm to yourself or others, I will contact relevant public authority to inform them of this. As far as reasonably possible, I will attempt to seek your permission before taking such action but may have to do so without it. There are some other situations where the law may require confidentiality to be broken. These relate to acts of terrorism, money-laundering, or drug-trafficking.

Usually, our work ends at a mutually agreed time. You do have the right to end our sessions at any time, however, I will require a four-week notice period, ensuring we have time to end our work together.
